OUR BACKGROUND

High Mountain Concepts is owned and operated by John & Karen Stock.  Together, they bring over 30 years of design and building experience.  The HMC Crew includes architectural designers, draftsmen, heavy equipment operators, carpenters, laborers and masons.

John Stock received his Bachelors of Fine Arts from Kansas City Art Institute, where he studied drawing, form and sculpture.  Early in his career, he apprenticed under master carpenters, where he developed his sharp eye for detail and his hand for craft, while making fine musical instruments.  John has built 60+ high-end homes in cold climate / high-altitude regions, including Summit County Colorado, Lake Tahoe California, and Crested Butte Colorado.

John works to make the industry better through creativity and ingenuity.  John encourages us all to be the best that we can be, to learn from others, and to teach others what we know.

Karen Stock studied at the School of Visual Art in New York City.  Karen was a purchasing agent for a major resort in Lake Tahoe, California.  It was there that she developed her organizational, clerical, and leadership skills.  Karen contributes to the designs and specifications of our projects by matching the client's tastes to their budgets.  Her ability to really listen assures the project will "fit" the client.
